For this Digital Animation project, I began by creating a storyboard on how I wanted the animation to look and sound. I created a script with several facts about Rocketship’s but had to scale it down to meet the timeframe of this project. I obtained vector images from Adobe Stock and made sure that they were scalable for the project.

I then began creating this video using Adobe Animate. I imported the background image, images of two planets, and the Rocketship. I then began the process of scaling them together so they blended into each other and then began to look at adding motion to the Rocketship. I will be honest, at first it took a few hours for me to figure out how to get the Rocketship vector image that I imported in to snap and sync to the motion path I created. For some reason, it would only click in the beginning and then veer off to the right instead of following the loops I created as the motion pathway.

When creating the motion path, I added several path points to help make for a curvy motion path, but the connectors still gave me a challenge, and the path is more sharp turn in some turns where others are a curvy turn. I used motion tweens and Free Transform to get the Rocketship to face in the appropriate direction. I did fade the rocket image into the video. During the flight I zoomed out on the Rocketship. I exported my animation into Captivate to add in my voiceover narration. I then had to go back and adjust the video to align with my audio, as my video was a few seconds short.

I then exported to CapCut to make the title slide and the Reference slide. I utilized the fly up transition effect when transitioning from the title slide to the main storyboard slide. On the title slide I also added some sparkle effects. On the reference slide, I used a fade in and sparkle transition effect.

I added the text “Rockets carry their own fuel and oxidizer and do not use Oxygen from the air”. I added this little piece of text to highlight one of the Facts discussed in my video. I enlarged the text to size 24, centered it and also added the reference website. Finally, I uploaded the completed video to YouTube.

This was my first time using Adobe Animate and feel that with practice, I will become more proficient. I am honestly fascinated by all of these applications and am looking forward to learning more about them and using them more.
